# International AI Filmmaking Challenge

The proposal is to invite a global community of creators to develop new films using the original production materials of *"Dune"*, the film Alejandro Jodorowsky planned but never produced: **storyboards, script excerpts, and visual designs**.[¹] The initiative will unite an extraordinary cinema archive, artificial intelligence tools, and a prize-backed competition — with the goal of bringing full-length feature films to the screen.

## Creative Freedom and a Shared Repository

Creators will be free to invent entirely new worlds, plots, and characters — while maintaining a clear connection to the source materials. A shared digital repository will allow **branching and remixing of ideas and projects, much like the GitHub model**, enabling teams to form around promising directions. Each team will document what it drew from the source and how it developed it. Collaboration will be built on defined permissions, version management, and credits for all contributors.

## Five Stages: From Concept to Feature Film

## International Launch and Finale Event

The competition will open with a launch event and an international media campaign, presenting the authorized source materials and issuing an open call to creators. The creation process will receive exposure along the way, culminating in the premiere of the finalist films and a Grand Prize award ceremony.

## Partnerships Sought and the First Step

The initiative seeks a **lead partner from the film or cultural sector, rights holders, technology partners, and prize-and-production financiers**. The first step is to assemble an authorized source package, a budget framework, and participation rules, ahead of the competition's public announcement.
